Fruit and Vegetable Picker

The category management and buying team is responsible for delivering exciting and ambitious growth plans, offering customers a great range of products, at a great price, through our rapid delivery business. Within this team we are looking for a highly organised and quality focussed Fruit and Vegetable Picker. As a key member of the perishables team, you will ensure we select only the highest quality produce to meet our customer needs. Your contribution will drive overall business performance.

Here’s what you’d be doing:

• Shifts: 1am - 4:30am : | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday - 6 day a week shift.
• Efficiently and precisely check market holders pack stock against a pre-ordered PO
• Checking quality, shelf life and ensuring product/packaging is robust in preparation for delivery to the Distribution Centre
• Handing over all collated POs to our DC collection staff
• Being polite when dealing with market staff and responding appropriately to queries and complaints referring any complex situations to the Procurement Associate
• Identify new and seasonal products and provide suggestions to the F&V Category Manager.
• Negotiate cost prices where necessary and look for new suppliers across different markets.
• Conduct F&V quality checks at a different ZAPP store each day. A schedule would be created to follow.
• Would conduct F&V staff training: acceptable quality to be sold, new additions, and changes to the product line.
• Successful candidate will be working from the Western International Market

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Proven experience in fruit and vegetable selection
• A keen interest in and knowledge of the fruit and vegetable industry
• Proactive, self-starter with a strong drive for results and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts. Demonstrates a positive "can-do" attitude.
• Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and be obsessed with the visual presentation of the product
• Adaptable to fast-paced and ever-changing environments
• Thrives under pressure, maintaining composure, professionalism, and a positive mindset
• Organised and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the quality and availability of F&V products for Zapp’s customers
