About You:
The ideal person will bring their drive, passion and curiosity for design to our work and process, mixing remote work with some time in our London office.
Though your professional experience of Digital Product Design might be limited, we expect that you have evidently strong UX and Research skills,coupled with signs of very promising UI and Visual Design skills, possibly through a successful background in a similar field or another related area.
We would expect you to over time become comfortably familiar with a combination of UX /UI design disciplines, such as Accessibility, Design Systems, and Design Thinking.
To substitute any lack of professional experience in Digital Products, we strongly support that you have some kind of official UX / UI training, and that you are equipped with a transferable skill set that you confidently draw strength from.
Being aware of Product Strategy and Service Design is a big advantage, but not expected at this stage. Your core skills and real strength really sits in UX and Research. Naturally, you will show great potential to grow and progress as a digital product designer.
Experience in Marketing Design and /or Video animation would be a great benefit, though in no way essential.
As a Digital Product Designer at YLD, we expect that you have the ability to:
- Understand the importance and implementation of User Research to support ideas and concepts;
- Combine interfaces and workflows to enhance user experience;
- Conceptualise, create and produce design solutions for digital experiences across many platforms and touch points;
- Clearly communicate your design decisions to fellow designers, as well as stakeholders;
- Proficiently use digital design tools to create and present your designs - we are tool agnostic, but you will be given an Adobe Creative Cloud licence (Photoshop, Illustrator and XD) as well as access to Figma and Sketch;
- Work with cross-functional teams;
- Work collaboratively in design and prototyping workshops;
- Work methodically and meet deadlines;
- Happily share progress, and invite feedback and reviews of your work;
- Understand and appreciate the importance of diversity and inclusion of everyone.
Working and collaborating closely with the Marketing Team as an integral part of every stage of the creative process, we expect that you have the ability to:
- Understand and evaluate an existing design style, as well as replicate and build upon it to develop outputs with a strong and cohesive visual identity;
- Use your creativity to communicate any brand’s key messages;
- Produce work that will promote the YLD brand and services to attract our target audiences;
- Where necessary, support the development and creative execution of promotional materials for various campaigns, including internal and external events.
What we'd like to see from you when you apply:
- Your portfolio (pdf, presentation or website) demonstrating critical thinking, creativity, Design Thinking and visual design.
- Your CV outlining any professional experience and creative training/education, including any kind of official UX / UI training that you may have.
- All written documents must be sent in English, or with a translation into English provided.
Our typical Recruitment Process looks like this (adjust to role):
- First intro call with someone from the Talent team (30/45 mins)
- 1st Interview and portfolio review with the Head of Product Design and one of our Designers (60/75 mins)
- Take Home Workshop Challenge (~4hrs)
- Challenge review (60/75 mins)
