Senior Character Artist

The goal at XR Games is to be the best developer of VR titles in the world.

We are a multi award-winning game development studio that specialises in immersive VR games. The studio has a history of full-scale development from concept through to submission, working with prestigious partners such as Sony Pictures VR, Meta, and Rovio Entertainment.

Since 2020 our team has grown from 20 full-time members to almost 100 by the close of 2022, due to the success and critical acclaim of our previous projects such as Zombieland: Headshot Fever and The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure.

Throughout 2023 & 2024 our team will be working on multiple major projects with recognisable IPs and licences as we continue to grow and invest in our future.

The Role

We’re now looking for a Senior Character Artist to join our team. The right person will have significant experience on released titles and be already comfortable in the senior artist role. You will be tasked with creating realtime game characters for an exciting unannounced VR game, working closely with the Art Director and animators to ensure visual standards, technical requirements and best practices are maintained.

Are you a fit?

The right person for this role will be able to show us a fantastic portfolio of game-ready character art. Being able to showcase projects with a similar art style to our own is a big bonus!

What we need you to have :

• Ideal experience is someone with a strong portfolio of humanoid characters, hard surface (armour etc.) as well as more stylized models.
• Excellent understanding of up to date character art pipelines.
• Eagerness to work across different visual styles.
• Strong understanding of the technical limitations of making game-ready art, optimisation etc.
• Great attention to detail and aesthetics.
• Strong communication skills.

Our studio is based in Leeds with a hybrid-working setup as standard. Our preference will always be to have people based in the office for part of the week, this will aid with your personal development as well as fully ingraining you within our team's culture and fun activities. However we do accommodate fully remote team members if we need to and will assist financially with relocation for those looking to do so.
