Machinist

Wyman-Gordon is a world leading manufacturer of Nickel, Titanium and Steel alloy forgings for the aerospace and energy sectors. Part of the major American corporation, PCC, we are a global manufacturer of complex metal components and products.

Due to increase in demand, we are currently recruiting for the role of Machinist within our Machine Shop. This job will commence on a 2 shift basis, although will progress to 3 shift working after appropriate training.

The role of the machinist is responsible for obtaining job assignments and ensuring the necessary tooling and drawings are in place. You will be required to interpret drawings and process sheets to determine machining and set-up required. You will measure and mark areas to be machined, set up machines and inspect your own and others work as required to ensure the achievement and improvement of quality standards. You will also be required to complete all required documentation accurately and on time.

Our machinists undertake first line maintenance checks on plant and equipment, use precision measuring instruments to set-up and machine work to required tolerances and ensure customer specifications are achieved e.g. check dimensions against process sheets or drawings. You will also be required to be flexible and carry out other duties as required.

Candidates should be time served Machinists, with ideally, at least 2-3 years’ experience in setting and operating machine shop equipment manual and CNC. You should have a strong knowledge of reading and interpreting computer blueprints, sketches and process sheets. as well as using a variety of precision measuring instruments. You should also have the capability of managing your own workload, a high degree of numerical capability as well as a Safety and Quality first working attitude.

Salary: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
