Junior Ecologist – Bury Saint Edmunds

Permanent, Full Time

At the heart of our business lies a group of outstanding people. Working together with clients, we provide solutions to difficult problems in Mining & Minerals, Infrastructure & Energy, and Property & Development.

The Opportunity:

We are looking to recruit Junior Ecologists to expand our team in Bury Saint Edmunds. The ecology team works alongside several other environmental professionals within the Firm, including planners, archaeologists, arboriculturists, landscape architects and engineers. In this role, you will undertake the following:

  • Undertake ecological desk studies
  • Assist with protected species surveys
  • Compile, analyse, evaluate and interpret survey data
  • Be exposed to the full variety of ecology works in a short space of time
  • Produce and contribute to technical reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and others
  • Gain insights into the planning system
  • Learn project management skills
  • Be taught the necessary skills for you to advance your career in ecology

You:

As the successful candidate you will:

  • Have a minimum of 6 months experience
  • Hold a degree in ecology or a related discipline
  • Hold, or be working towards, ‘qualifying member’ status, or higher, of CIEEM
  • Have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to develop new ecology field skills, including during unsocial hours (e.g. overnight bat surveys) and often away from home (expenses paid)
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • An adaptable and flexible approach to work, to meet demands at peak times
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Ideally hold a valid CSCS card
