SEN Complaints and Compliance Officer – Ref: CH00623
Salary: G9 £36,298 - £41,496 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Walsall Children's Services is seeking a dedicated and professional person to:
- work in liaison with the Education, Health and Care Plan Manager and directly with SEND EHC Case Work Officers to respond to complaints received whether directly by the Assessment & Review Team or via the Walsall Council Complaints team, including enquiries received from Councillors
- be the first point of call for the Local Government Ombudsman, drafting replies and ensuring timely follow up
- advise and guide Case Work Officers on questions of compliance with the current SEND Code of Practice
- respond and lead responses to Freedom of Information Requests with administration colleagues
- lead responses to Tribunal referrals and monitoring Mediation outcomes that are being followed by Case Work Officers.
This role requires an individual with emotional resilience and the ability to apply logical thinking to complex arguments that are often presented by complainants in a heightened emotional state. Experience of working within an SEN environment is desirable.
