LECTURER IN ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS GRADE 8

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Engineering Mathematics, who will be a member of the Teaching and Scholarship\[1\] (T&S) staff in the School of Engineering. We are making ongoing investments in staff and facilities in the School of Engineering, and this post forms part of an initiative that we have launched to design, develop and deliver the teaching of all engineering mathematics within our own School. You will join a team of lecturers to develop and deliver a curriculum and pedagogy for teaching engineering mathematics across the Aerospace, Civil, Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering programme areas. This team will focus on both fundamental mathematics for First Year undergraduates; and more advanced, specialist topics for more senior undergraduates and postgraduate students. You will take a creative approach to reforming our learning and teaching in this area, drawing on innovative best practice from the HE sector and elsewhere. This post will also involve individual research project supervision; leading small group pastoral tutorials; leading a co-curricular programme of mathematics support; and a range of administrative duties in the School.

The post is permanent (subject to a probationary period) and is available immediately. Applications are welcome from those with any background in teaching mathematics at university, or in other parts of the education sector. Candidates with experience of pedagogic and curricular development are particularly welcome, as are candidates with experience of teaching and supporting students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. You should be passionate about learning and teaching; and willing to undertake further professional development.
