Position Overview & Specifications
Centre for Excellence in Paramedic Practice
Are you interested in helping to teach, shape and develop the next generation of Paramedics?
The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. Currently we have over 1000 learners on the CPD programme with formal contracts with 9 out of the 11 English ambulance services. This pedigree in paramedic education has led to the creation of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice (CEPP), which recently won the Preferred Provider Status for the Southern Ambulance Alliance (SWAST, SCAS, SECAMB, LAS, IoW), East of England Ambulance Service and North West Ambulance Service for paramedic degree apprenticeships. The University now has over 1300 registered learners across the 6 apprenticeship programmes.
The North West Ambulance Service, in conjunction with the University of Cumbria, are seeking applications for a 2-year fixed term secondment for existing NWAS staff in the role of Clinical Lecturer. You will work with the UoC/NWAS Senior Lecturers to deliver the University's BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science to NWAS members of staff who are undertaking the new Paramedic Science Degree Apprenticeship.
We are recruiting for 3 secondment roles based at our Lancaster Campus. You should be an appropriately registered healthcare professional with experience of working within the pre-hospital environment as well as experience in delivering either ambulance based pre-hospital education or Higher Education Institution based healthcare education. You will be supported to complete a postgraduate certificate in education if this has not been achieved already.
The University is committed to nurturing an environment where its employees, students and visitors are treated fairly and with respect at all times. We recognise that if we provide a fully inclusive working and studying environment, we will enable everyone to perform to the best of their ability. Recognising, embracing and valuing difference will lead to improvements for everyone, including:
- A more diverse staff and student population;
- A better working and studying environment;
- Attracting and retaining the very best staff and students;
- Achieving the University mission, vision and values;
- Meeting and exceeding the challenging targets and performance indicators in the University corporate plan.
