The University of Central Lancashire is looking to recruit to a new post for Customer Service Attendants within the Library Service. You will be responsible for providing a welcoming and safe environment to all our University Library visitors.

The successful candidate will focus on our reception service, supporting students to make the very best of their time at the University by providing a high level, effective customer support service. Covering in-person queries, as well as those received via email, phone and calls via the service desk, the successful candidate will provide a rapid response to incidents and emergencies and evacuations in accordance with standard operational procedures and policies.

The role will include patrolling the building to ensure that the environment is a safe, secure, and welcoming environment conducive to study for all visitors. Excellent and appropriate communication skills are vital, applicants will be IT literate and need to be prepared to be proactive in communicating Library rules particularly in relation to noise, use of study rooms and hot food. Essential qualifications for this role are 5 GCSE's or equivalent qualification or significant, relevant professional experience or experiential learning.

You will need to be fit and active as this role will also require you to help with the continual movement of library stock which includes helping with our self-service machine and shelving items and occasional helping with the setting up of areas for events. The role will also require regular furniture checking and the resetting of room layouts particularly in group study rooms. The shift pattern for the role will be 8am - to 4 pm and 10 am – 6pm alternating weekly.
