The role

Based in the Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation, this role presents an exciting opportunity to work across the wider University, providing detailed insight into our research, enterprise and innovation portfolio. The provision of robust intelligence and management information (MI) about our research and impact is critically important for the delivery of our Vision and Strategy 2030, supporting evidence-based decision-making and enabling compliance.

This role will line-manage a small team of analysts and is offered on either a full-time (35 hours pw) or part-time (28 hours pw) basis.

What will you be doing?

Your initial priorities will include:

  • Providing robust MI and intelligence relating to research and impact, drawing on internal and external datasets, and benchmarking against peer institutions;
  • Developing new approaches to visualising information about our research, enterprise and innovation portfolio through data dashboards, using PowerBI and other tools;
  • Informing the development and monitoring of a portfolio of key performance indicators (KPIs) for research, enterprise and innovation;
  • Maximising the use of information and intelligence to inform complex research bids and statutory returns;
  • Working with, and deputising for, the Head of Research Information and Evaluation to triage, prioritise and scope requests for information relating to research and impact.

You should apply if

If you think the below describes you, we’d love to see your application.

  • You bring considerable experience of providing MI within a large, complex organisation, and can demonstrate a broad understanding of the research and impact landscape.
  • You have a proven ability to analyse, interpret and visualise complex data and to communicate insights clearly to a range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority;
  • You have excellent planning and organisational skills and can work under pressure to progress several simultaneous streams of work using your own initiative and judgement;
  • You have experience of line management, informal supervision and/or close collaborative working as part of a small team, and aspire to develop this further in this role.
