About us

The UCL Division of Psychiatry is within the Faculty of Brain Sciences and a centre of excellence in Mental Health research. Our aim is to contribute to the improvement of mental health through research and education. We address clinical problems in order to achieve benefits for patients and public health, using insights from basic science. We also deliver innovative teaching, relevant to clinical practice, which is informed by our research.

The UCL Division of Psychiatry is an interdisciplinary centre for research and teaching concerned with mental health and illness. About the role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding quantitative researcher to undertake genetic epidemiological analyses as part of the UKRI funded ‘Causal determinants of Dementia with a Vascular Component (DVC-RISK)’ Study, in the Division of Psychiatry at UCL.

The post is offered as Research Assistant (Grade 6B) or Research Fellow (Grade 7), depending on experience, from 24thApril 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment at Research Fellow, Grade 7 requires a PhD and relevant experience in a relevant discipline (or in the process of completing) such as epidemiology, genomics, statistical or data science.

The post is initially offered for two years at 100% full-time equivalent. This post is part of a longer-term funded project and therefore there may be an opportunity to extend the post for a further two years. We are happy to discuss requests for part-time, flexible and hybrid working.

About you

The postholder will have a relevant Bachelors and/or PhD degree in Epidemiology, Psychology, statistics or equivalent.

The postholder will have excellent knowledge of quantitative research methods as well as experience and advanced skills in conducting research using quantitative methods.

The post-holder will be motivated, resourceful, and effective at working independently and as part of a team.

Appointment details:

  • The Research Assistant post is graded on the Non-clinical research staff Pay Scale Grade 6b, the annual salary for which ranges from £34,502 to £36,348 per annum (including London Allowance).
  • The Research Fellow post is graded on the Non-clinical research staff Pay Scale Grade 7, the annual salary for which ranges from £38,308 to £46,155 per annum (including London Allowance).
  • The appointment is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
  • The interviews will be held on 17th of April 2023.
