Your role

Threats, vulnerabilities, risks, likelihoods and impacts – can you take a pragmatic and holistic approach to operational risk and resilience management? Are you able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure that regulatory expectations are met?

We're looking for a Compliance & Operational Risk Control Specialist like you to:

  • support our Material Risk Taker (as required under the Senior Managers & Certification Regime) by keeping abreast of significant matters regarding Compliance & Operational Risk Control for Group Functions (C&ORC GF), impacting our operations in the UK
  • liaise with various second line of defense risk and control functions to gather key information to support the creation of responses to UK regulatory requests and specific requirements to issues as required
  • prepare materials and briefings ahead of meetings with UK regulators
  • maintain an awareness of global operational risk and operational resilience regulatory developments and contribute to responses to public consultations ,
  • deliver, individually and as part of a team, second line of defense operational resilience assurance activities
  • collaborate with colleagues across all business divisions, group functions, lines of defense, external consultants and peer banks
  • optimize processes by eliminating non-value add activities and utilizing synergies

Your team

You’ll be working as part of our Business Continuity & Resilience team within our C&ORC function, which is part of Group Compliance & Regulatory Governance (GCRG). You will be based in London and work independently as well as part of a small second line of defense team to support a UK Material Risk Taker. Additionally you will provide independent assurance over our journey to become operationally resilient, globally.

We are responsible for functional oversight of Group Functions compliance and operational risk, as well as owning and maintaining the frameworks for regulatory reporting, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and data protection. In addition we also provide control assurance testing across areas such as cyber, SOX, US Chief Financial Officer Attestation (CFOA) and Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR).

Your expertise

  • strong knowledge of operational risk coupled with an awareness of operational resilience and an appreciation of cyber security
  • an interest in the concepts of business continuity, technology and third party risk management, risk appetite, risk tolerance and risk capacity
  • a solid understanding of banking operations and the financial system
  • an interest in rapidly changing geopolitics and an ability to translate that into potential threats to our operations
  • project management skills
  • strong presentation and communication skills (fluent in English, spoken and written)
  • proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint; and a working knowledge of MS Teams
  • excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels
  • proven ability to solve problems, influence and get things done
