About the role
Our Strategic Director of City Operations will have a unique opportunity to develop a clear vision for City Operations so that its services meet the council’s ambitious growth agenda. We’re building stronger public engagement and driving greater responsibility for civic pride among our communities. We aspire to deliver consistently high-quality services for our citizens and instil confidence in the reliability and responsiveness of our services. This role is all about strategic leadership having a real influence on high profile frontline services, including highways, waste, street cleansing, sport events, leisure, film, and tourism. There’s scope to challenge current ways of working, to develop and embed new commercial cultures with skills to match. We’re creating leaner and more effective services that are data-led and focused on intelligence.
