Objectives:

We are currently looking for recent graduates in Interpreting to join our internship programme at THG Fluently, which is a great way to start a career in the language services industry.

All our internships are paid, full-time Monday to Friday (9 am - 6 pm) including holiday entitlement. Interns are assigned to a dedicated mentor who is responsible for training and development. Internships with us reflect a real-life business environment where you might be called upon for various tasks at any given time, therefore a flexible and positive nature is essential.


Interpreting Internships at THG Fluently


The goal of the internship is to provide you with hands-on experience of the language services industry in an agency environment. The internship aims to give you an opportunity to understand how to manage interpreting bookings for our clients, and to develop your organisational and communication skills.


We offer interpreting services to the public sector (such as the NHS) as well as to private sector clients. The Interpreting Team is divided into two sub-teams to look after these two client groups and you will predominantly work with the private sector. On some occasions, you will also be required to assist the public sector team.


As an interpreting team member you will support the Interpreting Teams with

  • Processing interpreting bookings from new and existing clients
  • Liaising with our clients
  • Assisting Project Managers with a variety of tasks
  • Sourcing appropriately skilled linguists and negotiating their rates
  • Administrative duties

You might also take on interpreting assignments, provided that you have the relevant qualifications and experience and you are confident to do so. This is not a strict element of your job description; however, you will have the chance to enrich your profile if you are comfortable with it.


You will gain first-hand experience of the operations of an office/language service agency. To ensure this, you will be involved in

  • Processing and allocating interpreting bookings for our clients
  • Sourcing and liaising with interpreters
  • Maintaining and updating databases
  • Completing month-end administration duties
  • Liaising with our Linguist Community Team who recruit new interpreters
  • General administration e.g. data entry

Requirements for the position:

  • Recently completed or currently pursuing MA or BA studies in linguistics are preferred
  • Interest in interpreting assignments
  • Excellent command of English and another language
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Excellent eye for detail
