Position Overview & Specifications
Applications are invited for a research technician to work on a CRUK-funded research programme. You will continue to propagate and maintain a large living biobank of patient-derived ovarian cancer models. This full-time or part-time post is available for up to 37 months, fixed-term, starting on or after 1st April 2023 and ending on 30 April 2026.
You will join Professor Stephen Taylor’s laboratory, Head of the Division of Cancer Sciences, which specialises in cell biology and cancer pharmacology, with a focus on understanding the biology of ovarian cancer and exploring novel treatments for this aggressive disease. The role will primarily support with the culturing of patient-derived tumour cells in the living biobank, which form the foundation of multiple research projects in the lab. You will also support with characterisation of the ovarian cancer models. The essential criteria for a successful candidate include previous experience of lone working in a research laboratory, with experience of tissue culture and molecular cell biology techniques. Candidates should also have a meticulous attention-to-detail and an enthusiasm to learn new laboratory techniques. Training on specialist role-specific techniques will be provided.
