Seamstress/Tailor in Central, West and North west London

The Seam are at the forefront of the sustainability movement, revolutionising clothes care & repair services. Through a simple two-sided marketplace, The Seam connects customers looking for clothes alterations or repairs to local, specialist Makers.

We are looking for freelance Makers (tailors/dressmakers/seamstresses/leather specialists) based in Central, West and North west London, with experience in working with garment alterations and mending (woven and knitted) to join our established Maker network.

As a Maker at The Seam you will:

- Manage your own booking requests, choose to accept new bookings when you want to take on more work.

- Be connected with customers who are in need of your specialist Making skills.

- Receive guidance from our specialist team in building on your client base and experiences, empowering you to convey clearly to customers your skill level and the types of jobs you most enjoy working on.

- Get access to our booking system which allows you to easily manage your bookings, customer payments and communications. Our safe payment system guarantees you don't have to chase any more customer invoices.

- Join a large community of specialist Makers and be invited to collaborate on projects and events.

- Be part of a movement that is shaping the future of sustainable fashion and circular business models.

Essential skills you should have:

- Qualification or certification relating to our industry (e.g Fashion Design degree, Tailoring studies) and a minimum of 5 years working in your specialist area.

- Experience in working with garment alteration and mending, or in other specialist areas such as leather, active wear or Cordwainer.

- An acute attention to detail and a sense of pride in your work.

- A highly empathic approach and the ability to communicate confidently with our customers.
