Position Overview & Specifications
The nuclear medicine assistant will be integral in the timely, efficient, and courteous provision of Nuclear Medicine and radioisotope services.
- The post holder will be responsible for supporting the provision of Nuclear Medicine services in a timely, efficient and courteous way.
- The post-holder will liaise with a variety of staff throughout the Trust, including wards and theatres and with those from other NHS trusts. The key working relationships in the department will be with the imaging, medical, clerical and nursing staff.
- The post holder will have considerable patient contact, including contact with the terminally ill. Patient presentation will include the unconscious, incapacitated, confused and those with physical and mental disabilities.

- Directing patients to the appropriate appointment
- Ensuring that all patients are appropriately prepared and ready for imaging procedures and radioisotope therapies
- Assisting Nuclear Medicine technologists and Nuclear Medicine CNS in the performance of Nuclear Medicine and radioisotope therapy procedures Provision of appropriate patient care
- Training in radiation protection and appropriate Nuclear Medicine and radioisotope therapy procedures will be provided. A willingness to assist in the acquisition of research and audit data will also be an advantage.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to professional development, an enthusiasm for their work and a high level of patient care and commitment.
- They will be expected to support the service in continuing to maintain and develop the highest standards of imaging, therapies and patient care.
