This is an exciting opportunity to join Tate Britain’s team of curators, leading and managing the work of our Modern team. The successful candidate will be an experienced curator of 20th century British art, with a specialism in post-War British art (1945-1990s).

Tate holds the National Collection of British Art from 1500 to the present, Modern and Contemporary International Art from 1900, and the National Archive of British Art from 1900. The Curatorial Department at Tate Britain is responsible for researching and delivering loan exhibitions, commissioning projects for the contemporary programme, as well as researching and building Tate’s British Collection and preparing collection displays.

You will work with the Director, Tate Britain and Director of Exhibitions and Displays, in developing and delivering Tate Britain’s programme of modern British exhibitions and collection displays.
You will play a senior role in building Tate’s collection of modern British art, reporting to the Director of Collection, British Art. To achieve this you will lead a team of Curators and Assistant Curators of modern British art, supervising their work and supporting their development and play a leading role in representing Tate Britain and Tate externally with key stakeholders.

We encourage applications from anyone who can demonstrate a firm commitment to research, a passion and keen eye for diverse and creative exhibition making, and an ability to inspire collaborative and collegiate working practices from their team and wider network.
