Who we are:
SubSea Craft is a privately-funded SME delivering Advanced Maritime Technology. Our core product is VICTA, a Diver Delivery Unit - a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.
We are looking for an energetic software engineer with a passion for control systems and robotics to help drive forward the development of world leading advanced maritime technology. The successful candidate will be driven by innovation and strive to deliver excellence in everything they do.
Responsibilities include:

  • Software development in line with the system requirements, including design, implementation, testing and validation
  • Testing and validation of software during trials
  • Production of comprehensive software documentation, to the best possible standards
  • Working flexibly with the software and engineering teams to ensure software and documentation are delivered on time
  • Working to the highest safety standards for the test and validation stages
  • Working collaboratively with established partner organisations to deliver robust integration of test plans within defined timelines

Essential skills and experience:

  • Degree level qualification in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or similar, or equivalent industry experience
  • Industry development experience in modern C++

Desirable skills and experience (any would be an advantage):

  • General understanding of closed loop control
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Experience with mobile robotics projects (personal or professional)
  • A good understanding of basic electronics
  • Good knowledge of data analysis procedures
  • Good understanding of Agile methodology
  • Demonstrable history of excellent technical communication, both written and verbal
  • Unafraid to challenge the team and utilise relevant experience to drive towards the highest quality product
  • A proactive individual with strong commitment and self-motivation
  • Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity
