Position Overview & Specifications

St Helena Hospice is seeking a Warehouse/Donation Centre Assistant, on a permanent contract. The role is for a 37.5 hours per week, working on a rota basis. This is a physically demanding role and will at times require movement of stock, within our Donation Centre and at our shops. A full manual driving licence is required.

As the Donation Centre is open 7 days a week, this role will include working some weekends and Bank Holidays.

Main Duties of the Job:

The key priorities of a Warehouse Operative are:

· To undertake a range of duties as allocated by Donation Centre Manager to ensure an efficient warehousing process

· To greet customers donating to St Helena via the Donation Centre demonstrating excellent customer service to represent the organisation in a positive manner.

· Supervising and supporting volunteers working at the donation centre. Working in the designated zones (reception, sorting room etc.) and completing all duties as requested.

· All Gift Aid donations to be prioritised ,sorted, processed and distributed appropriately.

· To ensure all items once donated are moved efficiently into the correct location in the warehouse stock system.

· Ensuring all stock areas are kept clear & tidy for ease of product selection and in line with Health & Safety requirements.

On occasion you may be required to drive a St Helena Luton van to deliver and collect stock to and from our shops as well as other ad hoc collections from corporate businesses.

· To attend supervisions and meetings with Donation Centre Manager and/or Assistant Manager to ensure understanding of the role, to develop new ways of working and to give feedback and ensure open lines of communication.

· To be able to identify possible high value or collectible items which may need forwarding to our Ecommerce department or high end shops where the item would achieve a higher profit.

· To help organise and attend to janitorial duties for the Donation Centre site.
