Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and resourceful Team Administrator for a busy Psychology & Psychotherapy Service. The Psychology & Psychotherapy team also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth and Southwark.

This is an opportunity to join the secondary mental health Psychology and Psychotherapy service for older adult. The post holder will be based alongside the community mental health team for older adults and will have a varied role.

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, have a flexible approach to work, and be able to work with a degree of autonomy. The post holder will provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective administrative service to the Psychology & Psychotherapy team as well as providing fast and accurate typing skills, with excellent audio and copy typing skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with patients with mental health problems as well as staff from all disciplines.

The post holder will also need to have a good working knowledge of office procedures including Health & Safety; proven skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; an excellent standard of written and oral English; a good telephone manner; and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

About the team:
We help people aged 65+ who are living in the community and have a mental health difficulty. We aim to help and support people to carry on living in the community with a good standard of mental well-being.

We care for people with a range of different mental health needs, including:
  • Depression (moderate to severe)
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Dementia or memory loss
  • Other mental health problems to do with mood or mental well-being which may affect daily living.
  • People under the age of 65 with progressive memory problems.
The principles of the P&P service are to provide psychological interventions to older adults based on the three main psychological theories underpinning talking therapies:
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Systemic Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
The P&P team consist of:
  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Counselling Psychologists
  • Psychotherapists with specialist training in specific therapeutic modalities
  • Trainee Clinical Psychologists
About the location:
The successful post holder will be based at 91 Granville Park, Lewisham, SE13 7DW.

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.

To provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective administrative and secretarial service to the PMOA Psychology & Psychotherapy Service across four boroughs, based at Granville Park, Lewisham.

You will promote and act as a central resource for the PMOA Psychology & Psychotherapy Service to ensure the smooth operation of the service. A central part of the role is to be the referral coordinator including receiving and logging referrals and maintaining various Excel databases.

The post holder will usually be expected to work unsupervised and needs to be able to prioritise their workload. The post holder must be able to use their own initiative in dealing with queries from both professional groups and members of the public, promoting the professional and caring image of the service.
