Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for a Formulation Chemist to join our growing team. Reporting into the Head of R&D, this role will develop skincare and other personal care formulations from brief and concept, to scale-up with our third party manufacturing partners. With the help of technicians and the support of the technical manager, you will need to formulate products, prepare samples and project manage to make sure that the products meet client expectations and launch on time and on budget.

Key responsibilities

  • Formulate products to fit the brief as specified by the customer.
  • Prepare formulations for submission, stability, compatibility, challenge and PR.
  • Ensure that Critical Path dates are met in regards to testing.
  • Liaise with Regulatory team on raw material documentation, PIF’s, INCI list and claims.
  • Write methods and specifications for products.
  • Order raw materials and samples and liaise with raw material suppliers .
  • If required, help other members of the development team with samples, information requests or the making of bulk.
  • You will be required to report into the Technical Manager or Managing Director regularly to give updates on the progression of projects.
  • Have direct communication with the customer to ensure deadlines are being met and feedback is being dealt with promptly.

Requirements

  • A scientific degree (ideally in cosmetic or pharmaceutical science)
  • Demonstrable experience in formulation development or product development
  • Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written with a high level of creativity and attention to detail
  • A strong understanding of technical and testing requirements
  • Speed to market and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Results oriented, excellent ability to utilise and manage the organisation's resources to achieve goals
