Trainee Construction Supervisor – Apprenticeship 2023 – London

Join us on our journey o build for a better society by becoming a Skanska Construction Supervisor.

What will you be doing?

As a Trainee Construction Supervisor, you will join our Building team, where we will make it our ambition to prepare you for a successful and rewarding career in Construction Management.

You will work alongside experienced construction professionals, and together, you will be responsible for ensuring a construction project is delivered safely and to the highest quality standards. No one day is the same on a construction site! Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn how to do the following tasks:

  • Assisting in the daily control, management, and coordination of site activities
  • Keeping a detailed diary of works planned and carried out by sub-contractors
  • Ensuring our sub-contractors are working to the latest programme of works, are signed up to the relevant method statements and checking they understand what is required
  • Contributing to site progress meetings
  • Building positive working relationships with sub-contractors
  • Dealing with any problems on site and monitoring risks
  • Ensuring health & safety is adhered to, including site inspections, and conducting site inductions.
  • Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is received, reviewed and communicated where necessary
  • Logging and resolving any defects found and challenge current methodology by putting forward innovative ideas

You will be involved in all aspects of construction project delivery from concept design, through to construction, commissioning, validation handover and into operation.

What qualification will you be studying towards?

Initially, you will be studying a Level 4 qualification in Construction Management at a nominated University. We will encourage you to progress on to Level 6 upon successful completion of Level 4.

Where will you be working?

London - a lot of our projects are in central London, however, due to the nature of construction, our work can move to other locations over time.

What will we need from you?

  • 3 A levels, BTEC National Extended Diploma or equivalent Level 3 qualification. You will also need to hold 5 GCSEs at Grades 4-9 including Maths and English.

  • Passion for construction and making a difference
  • New ideas to help us innovate and work better

  • Starting salary: £17- £20K per year + London travel allowance and annual salary reviews
