Senior Business Information Analyst – Early Help and Family Hubs (permanent)


Grade 9 - £42,503-£46,549 per annum


Location: hybrid (40% working in Sheffield office)

The Post


We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, highly motivated and reliable individual to join the Performance and Analysis Service within the Integrated Commissioning service. The post holder will lead on data collection and reporting for Family Hubs Transformation, Building Successful Families and the Early Help Partnership Board. This will include providing datasets to support the Family Hub and Start for Life programme as well as continuing to develop an early help dataset for the Early Help Partnership Board. The datasets developed will also support delivery of the Building Successful Families program, improve Sheffield’s data maturity assessment and support the retention of Sheffield’s earned autonomy status.


This is an exciting opportunity to lead on a variety of projects all requiring a high level of analytical skills and an ability to present and communicate complex information to a variety of different audiences.


  • An interest and enthusiasm in understanding and improving outcomes for children is essential as is a willingness to work closely with colleagues Council-wide as well as in other LAs, partner organisations and central government departments.

  • The post requires strong IT and analytical skills and previous experience of using data for research and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of how to extract data from databases and create reports using tools such as SQL, Power BI, Excel VBA and Stata.

  • The post will require an individual with a flair for creativity and problem solving who is able to work independently and as part of a team. Close working relationships will need to be maintained with customers to translate requirements into data requests as well as to be proactive in championing effective and robust use of business intelligence to support continuous improvement.

About You


You will need excellent IT literacy including knowledge of statistical analysis and an understanding of how information flows through databases, how to extract data and how to create automated reports. You will be able to analyse, interpret data and present data and have good communication skills to ensure customers understand the benefits and limitations of information produced. You will be able to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues and be confident in using data to evaluate and challenge existing practice and make suggestions for improvement. You will be able to effectively organise workloads of yourself and others and prioritise to meet deadlines.
