Position Overview & Specifications

Scot JCB Group are a distributor of agricultural and construction machinery from JCB and other manufacturers. Our business activities include sales, service, and parts and we operate from 17 locations around the country. We employ around 340 people including over 100 mobile engineers. Through continual investment in our IT infrastructure, we are constantly developing our systems to improve operational efficiency and customer service.

The 1st Line IT Engineer is a key role in supporting all areas of the business and getting best value from our ongoing investments.

Core hours: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm. Based at our Dennistoun office

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • 1st line IT Support
  • Set up of new and replacement IT equipment
  • Setting up new employees with relevant software/accounts
  • Installing and configuring computer systems when required
  • Maintaining the phone system, producing call reports and setting up extension speed dials
  • Provide employees with basic IT system training
  • Coordination of 3rd party service providers
  • Troubleshooting and solving hardware/software faults
  • Other ad hoc duties as required by the IT Manager

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good knowledge of Windows 10 and Office applications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • A basic understanding of IT networks, cloud technology and computer security
  • Ability to relate to non-IT staff in a productive way
  • Good understanding of modern hardware including pcs, thin clients, mobile devices, and network infrastructure
  • A good working knowledge of administering IT operating systems, particularly Windows, Exchange, Citrix, Teams
  • Good understanding of the technical functions of servers and networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with customers, suppliers and colleagues to solve problems
