Position Overview & Specifications

The Global Prioritisation Exercise (GPE) for Humanitarian Research and Innovation is Elrha's newest strategic programme that aims to increase the impact of humanitarian research and innovation investments for communities affected by crises. We are looking to recruit a Production and Editorial Officer to join our team on a fixed term contract for 5months from 1st August 2023.

Do you have an eye for detail and a flair for writing? Do you excel at editing, proofreading, and enhancing complex information? Are you seeking to develop your production management skills in a friendly, supportive environment, focused on creating positive change in the humanitarian sector? Working closely with our Communications team, in this role you will have the opportunity to independently manage and develop written materials and in-house content focused on humanitarian research and innovation, while ensuring Elrha's high standards on quality, readability and accessibility.

Your application will need to demonstrate:

    • Experience of copy-editing authored/published reports or similar, to improve accessibility, clarity and engagement.
    • Excellent editorial and project management skills to submit work to deadline and to budget.
    • An understanding of production and design processes to facilitate the publication of high-quality reports.
    • Proven ability to communicate complex or programmatic language into strong, accessible copy for a range of audiences in English.
    • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders and teams.
    • An interest in the humanitarian or development sectors, demonstrated through academic qualifications and/or paid or voluntary work.

Experience of copy-editing products relevant to humanitarian work would be an advantage.
