Although we are dealing with sick children with acute or chronic medical problems daily, there is never a dull moment in Paediatrics. Yes it is challenging but you will work with children (and their parents) ranging from different ages and backgrounds and the fun and laughter you can experience along the way makes it rewarding.

We have 4 fantastic areas within our paediatric unit-you will be working cross site between Sandwell and City Hospitals(with one being your base ward) with the opportunity to rotate between three other areas to enhance your skills.

You will have the chance to work at:
CECU/PAU: Brand new unit with six PAU beds.

Lyndon Ground: 18 bed PAU including an inpatient adolescent area.

Lyndon One: 25 bed inpatient ward with two allocated HDU beds.

Priory Ground and Children’s Outpatientscover out patient investigations and day surgery.

As a member of our team you will be joining a culture where great importance is placed on the Fundamentals of care and where Multi-Disciplinary team working and communication is at the heart of our focused care. As a children’s nurse you are the best person to improve outcomes for children and families through ambition, respect and compassion.

Your job will entail:
  • putting learnt models of careinto practice, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
  • Managing a defined group of patients- participating in all aspects of care from initial contact/admission through to discharge, including transferring from one environment to another and administering medication
  • Compliance with the NMC code of conduct and practice.
  • Keeping up to date with new developments in nursing and speciality specific information.
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) is an integrated care organisation with a budget of approximately £600 million and over 7,000 staff.
