The Royal College of Art is seeking to appoint an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer who will act as an equity, diversity and inclusion expert, bringing knowledge and experience of effective approaches and sharing best practice across the College. They will be central in shaping, promoting and delivering the College Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Action plan.
The role holder will support the development and implementation of EDI strategies, policies and initiatives that contribute to ensuring that the College meets its legal obligations as well as develop inclusive practices across services delivered by the College. They will identify ways to embed EDI across operations, policies, practice and culture.
The role holder will provide coordination for initiatives relating to EDI, working closely with the Head of Equity and Inclusion, and with colleagues across the College at all levels. The successfully appointed candidate will be pivotal in supporting the coordination, delivery and embedding of College EDI initiatives.
Experience of working within equality, diversity and inclusion, covering a range of different equality areas and topics including reporting requirements and experience of supporting cross-organisation equity and inclusion projects is an essential requirement of the role.
Demonstrating a practical understanding of the Equality Act 2010 and having a good working knowledge of the EDI landscape within the Higher Education sector is beneficial, as is an awareness of equalities frameworks and awards, including Athena SWAN, the Race Charter Mark and Stonewall.
