Position Overview & Specifications

We are AMS. We are a global total workforce solutions firm. Our Contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) is one of our service offerings; we act as an extension of our clients’ recruitment team and provide professional interim and temporary resources.

Rolls Royce is respected engineering organisation, providing white collar, blue collar and engineering services to many sectors including energy, aerospace, marine and defence. They are committed to innovation and the continual pursuit of improvement, and with a brand holding over 100 years of service they are now developing their technology capabilities, venturing into new markets, and building their customer base further.

On behalf of Rolls Royce, AMS are looking for over 80 Fitter positions to cover initial a 12-month contract based at their Derby site. The Fitter will be working on a 3-shift pattern Monday to Friday of morning, afternoons and nights.

As a Fitter you will be responsible for:

  • Fitting, instrumentation and/or modules using the direction of engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • The Fitter will raise non-conformance issues
  • Working to set deadlines to achieve performance targets and Customer delivery commitments
  • Working in a compliant manner to ensure that products are built to the correct technical and quality specifications
  • Ensuring Health & safety is kept to a high standard, at all times
  • Participating in continual review and improvement processes for the business to identify best practice

What we require from the candidate:

  • It is essential that candidates possess a recognised time-served apprenticeship within an engineering discipline AND either a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in using a variety of engineering equipment and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply instructions correctly to achieve required product quality
  • Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate relevant fitting experience of engine components
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process basics
