Position Overview & Specifications
In joining Ridge as an Apprentice Cost Manager, you will be an integral part of the cost management team in Leeds and contribute to our continued innovation, quality and growth.
Our team are looking to recruit a like-minded candidate to join a small cost management team which will enable you to work side by side with levels varying from Quantity Surveyor to Associate and Partner level allowing you to learn directly from experienced individuals in the industry. A smaller team will allow you to take on responsibility which you won’t get anywhere else, further growing your knowledge and experience and propelling your career in the right direction.
Working in this role, you will be involved in a variety of projects, including residential, industrial, retail, hotel, and leisure. You will work with a diverse client base and will join a rapidly expanding specialist team of enthusiastic surveyors, providing all Cost Management services.
Supported by our industry professionals, you will be provided with training and guidance throughout your apprenticeship to enable to you to fulfil your aspirations. Undertaking your academic studies whilst also delivering projects and gaining experience in the construction industry is a fantastic opportunity that we are certain you will relish.

- Attending client design team and progress meetings
- Visiting site to undertake regular valuations of the progress of works
- Measurement and quantification of buildings to support the preparation of budgets, estimates, cost plans and the like
- Reviewing design documents and drawings and monitoring changes through the design stages
- Prepare procurement documents for tendering
- Evaluating and comparing various sub-contractor and contractor quotes
- Engaging with the construction supply chain
- Supporting the cost management team with various day-to-day tasks required to administer construction projects successfully
- Assist with filing of project documentation and ensuring compliance with QA requirements
- Arithmetical checking of documents and calculations
- A positive 'can do' attitude
- A keenness to learn and engage with team members
- Methodical and organised
- Attentive to detail
- Educated to level 3 standard, e.g. A-level (or equivalent)
- GCSE Grade 6 (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Science and English
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Holder of UK driving licence
