Position Overview & Specifications

Manthorpe Building Products is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of plastic injection moulded, vacuum formed and extruded products for the building industry.

The role: The individual will be responsible for but not limited to Developing and maintaining the Quality Assurance; Environmental and H&S Systems to ensure full compliance with the IS09001; 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, whilst Improving the HSE culture throughout Manthorpe Building Products; Working closely with Departmental Managers in relation to the implementation of HSE Policies, Best Practice and a consistent approach throughout; Assisting with the management of the sites HSE systems; Accident & incident investigation working closely with department managers; Driving Behavioural Change and Improving Employee Engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for adopting and implementing Health, Safety and Environmental and Quality systems and Policies and Procedures on site.
  • Responsible for maintaining a full understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation that is applicable to the role and the business.
  • Support, advice and assist the Site Management Teams in fulfilling their responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety & Environmental duties.
  • Continually drive health and safety cultural and behavioural improvements throughout the site.
  • Assist department managers with site audits and inspections.
  • Assist department managers with accident & incident investigations to ensure root cause analysis is completed and preventative measures are implemented. This will also include liaising with employees and employee representatives.
  • Carry out in-depth investigations for more serious accidents and environmental incidents, ensuring that appropriate action is taken to address the situation and also to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Maintain the accident database, monitor preventative actions, trends etc. and produce accident statistics for the site.
  • Organise and develop HSE projects in line with Group Policy and Key Performance indicators.
  • Assist with the development of the yearly HSE plan, delivering the agreed aims and objectives of the plan.
  • Advise and promote environmental awareness in the workplace.
  • Assisting / developing Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work with departmental managers to ensure that all tasks have a suitable and sufficient RA’s & SSW’s and that all relevant staff members have received the required training etc.
  • Maintain records and files as required by the business / department.
  • The development and maintenance of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Assurance System ensuring issue levels of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Forms are controlled.
  • The development and maintenance of the ISO14001 Environmental System ensuring issue levels of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Forms are controlled.
  • The development and maintenance of the ISO 45001 System ensuring issue levels of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Forms are controlled.
  • Continually reviewing the Standards and developing the Control Manuals to ensure they are up to date and reflective of actual working practices.
  • Maintaining the BBA (British Board of Agreement) quality plans and monitor adherence to ensure 6 monthly periodic audits are passed.
  • Establish training and refresher training programs for all relevant standards.
  • Carrying out Supplier Audits in accordance with the ISO 9001 guidelines and develop and maintain an effective Vendor Rating system.
  • Maintaining the new product/material trial request and validation system ensuring first article inspections are completed and approval routings signed off.
  • Developing and maintaining the product master sample range ensuring all lab samples remain current and sample updates in line with Engineering change control procedures are implemented.
  • Assisting Senior Management to maintain full compliance with REACH legislation (EC 1907/2006) European Community Regulationon chemicals ensuring the COSHH database is maintained.
  • Maintaining a database of Customer Complaints and ensure 8D (Eight Disciplines) Corrective action plans are implemented promptly.
  • Drafting and issuing Quality Alerts to ensure Internal and External non-conformances are conveyed to the shop floor.
  • Reviewing all SUA’s (QF003) Start up Approvals on a daily basis and archive all 1st/Last offs in line with ISO9001 retention period guidelines.
  • Maintenance of the Customer Returns system ensuring all product returns are reviewed promptly to ensure credit notes are only raised for compliant returns.
  • Maintaining up to date training records (full hyperlinked matrix) of all shop floor staff in line with ISO9001 guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Experience of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality within manufacturing
  • Experience and Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO14001 and BS OHSAS18001
  • Ability to lead and drive cultural and behavioural change and improvements in a diverse working environment
  • Ability to engage staff across all levels of the business.
  • Ability to work on own initiative through excellent time management skills
  • Computer Literate – Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook
  • Possess internal drive to the development and delivery of the expectations of the role with an energetic and passionate approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive, friendly, approachable, and driven who is committed to a “can do” attitude.

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday Full Time.
