Reporting Lines

Dual reporting to Standards and Standard Parts Lead within Industrial Programs based in Sweden, and the Digital Vehicle Manager within Vehicle Line based in the UK


Location

Based in the UK (Coventry & Nuneaton Offices) with travel expected to Sweden and other locations as required


Background

Our Industrial Programs team is a part of Polestar´s R&D organization. Within industrial programs there are several important functions of which Standard parts is one.

As Standard Parts Engineer you will provide our R&D organization with guidelines, support and technical documentation for standard parts. You are the go-to person within Polestar for questions and support regarding usage and development of Standard parts. You will contribute with investigations, assignment and process development work within your field of experience. Also establish and be responsible for standard parts strategy.


Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design and release standard parts solutions in corporation with R&D engineering and suppliers
  • Collaboration with Volvo Cars standard parts department
  • Maintain Polestar classification library of standard parts in Teamcenter
  • Responsible that technical documents are available at the right level, right time and with right quality
  • Secure that part documentation is correctly stored in Teamcenter
  • Collaboration with external suppliers related to standard parts
  • Contribute with the departments work within your field of experience.

You will be responsible that available standard parts fulfil the standard parts strategy and are available for purchase. You will lead the development and design of standard parts and actively follow the technical development within the field of standard parts.


The Person

  • You have a strong will to create the future of electric vehicles – it’s probably fair to call you an EV nerd passionate about solving climate changes.
  • A deep understanding of fasteners and in particular screws and joining technology’s is something you need to bring.
  • You are enthusiastic, motivated, well-organised, and driven.
  • You’re not afraid to try new approaches and out of the box methods.
  • You have a holistic view, including vision, business, and customers.
  • You have some year’s experience as an engineer and are now ready to take a new step.
  • As a person you are detail oriented with good communication skills and an analytical mindset.
  • You are structured, have an ability to co-operate and work in cross functional teams, as well as an ability to work independently and capable of identify problem and recommend solutions.


To be successful in this role, we believe you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree within mechanical design or equivalent experience
  • Experience within Catia V5 on a designer level and with Teamcenter AWS/RC
  • Competence in component development and product releases
  • Ability to establish competence in relevant tools, methods and processes
  • English – spoken and written (Swedish is a bonus)
  • Previous experience from the automotive industry
  • Knowledge about fasteners, specially screw design and screw joints
  • Driving license is desired but not a requirement
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally.

  • Ability to prioritise workload & manage external inputs/requests
