Job Role: CAD Assistant

Reporting to: Senior CAD Technician

Job purpose:

To produce 3D CAD drawings and work instructions to BS Standard using SOLIDWORKS. Work with the design team to improve products and production systems. Work with the design team to create bespoke designs to win new business and to assist our client base. Work with the design team to plan projects/contracts to successfully meet order requirements on time. Assist in purchasing of materials and components. Provide estimating support when required. Produce technical documentation for operation and maintenance of new equipment.

Hours

Weekly 39 hours during office hours 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday – Thursday, 7.30am to 12.30pm Friday, ½ hour for lunch.

Work additional hours as required to meet customer demands.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

1. Issue concise work instructions appropriate for manufacturing and installation tasks.

2. Ensure tasks for which you have been made responsible are completed within cost and time demands ensuring quality requirements are met or exceeded.

3. Personally inspect your work to ensure it complies with specifications and quality requirements, before releasing to the next stage.

4. Carry out other duties within your skill, experience and ability as required and to keep up to date with changing engineering developments for continuous company and personal improvement.

5. Keep your work area safe, tidy and clear of hazards.

Key skills, knowledge and ability

1. Computer literate

2. Good reading/writing/verbal communication

3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

4. Knowledge of Manufacturing Planning and Control

5. Experienced operating Solidworks CAD system

6. Ability to follow instructions and make informed decisions

7. Good numeracy

8. Ability to multi-task and prioritise work load

9. Confidence to work alone or as part of a team

10. Educated to GCE A level or above.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Kingston upon Hull, HU9 1SD: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
