Position Overview & Specifications
Are you an experienced long-form Video Editor, looking for a role working on premium documentary content in the sports industry? If so, Play Sports Network, home of GCN+, may have the perfect role for you!
We are looking for a Documentary Editor to join our Production team, to assist the other Editors and Edit Producers with the creation of our GCN+ , Video-On-Demand, Documentaries. You will be editing original content, all focused on cycling-related stories and themes.
Ideally, you’ll have a few years of experience as an in-house video editor, and will have worked with long-form content before. It would be fantastic if you also have a passion for cycling or mountain biking, but this isn’t essential for this role.
As a Documentary Video Editor, you will deliver the post production vision set out by the Creative and Content Managers. You’ll work closely with the other Editors, Edit Assistants, and Edit Producers to ensure that all of the Documentaries are being produced and edited to a high standard and on time. We pride ourselves on producing fantastic content, quickly, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys a fast-paced workflow and collaborating with a team to get productions across the finish line.
The Role:
- Take a documentary edit from long to fine cut ensuring that the vision for the content is communicated
- Ability to re-order, restructure and create a story in an edit from rushes
- Maintain a steady, independent workflow to deliver quality work on-time
- Ensure that the Filmmakers understand the process for correctly using licensed material in content (music, images etc)
- Keep up to date with emerging industry trends
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- 2+ years’ experience as an in-house editor
- Experience editing long-form content to a high standard and to deadlines
- Skilled using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar
- Basic understanding of after effects and motion graphics / design skills
- Good understanding and knowledge of non-linear video and graphic production workflows, organisation, and storage
- Knowledge of and interest in cycling would be beneficial for this role
