Position Overview & Specifications

Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor

37.5 hours per week | Permanent | Granby Industrial Estate, Weymouth, DT4

We are seeking a Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor to join our friendly Warehouse team and support our logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the day to day running of the logistics department, ensuring all functions are executed effectively and efficiently. Working in a warehouse environment, the role will also involve supporting the Purchasing & Logistics Manager as needed, as well as supervision of a Logistics Assistant.

Permavent Ltd are one of the UK’s leading roofing and construction manufacturers in the UK, supplying quality products to building and roofing merchants nationwide for over 15 years. The organisation has continued to grow exponentially and is regarded as one of the market leaders in roofing and construction. Our sister company Granby Roofing & Building Supplies Ltd, is a popular builders’ merchants serving the local trade in Weymouth. Both companies work closely together.

The key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing day to day running of the logistics functions
  • Supervising the Logistics Assistant, providing guidance, support and development
  • Stock control, advising on low stock levels and high product turnover
  • Investigating any stock shortages, raising credits and stock adjustments as needed
  • Supporting the development of logistics processes and process mapping with regards to environment, quality, customer satisfaction, cost and efficiency and problem solving
  • Implementing, developing and updating the Quality Manual, recording DOP’s and internal quality checks on products
  • Raising non-conformance reports and following up to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Ensuring transport requirements and procedures are adhered to
  • Conducting regular stock takes on products, highlighting any known issues in advance
  • Ensuring security of workplace

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience of stock & warehouse management
  • Prior experience within purchasing and logistics
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with ability to manage own and others’ workloads’ efficiently
  • Ability to perform well under pressure when working with high volume and fast moving daily processes – multi tasking
  • Keen eye for detail, producing high level of accuracy with work
  • Committed to providing excellent customer service with a ‘right first time attitude’
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Outlook & Excel
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Full and valid driving licence
  • Ability to support and motivate others, developing strong working relationships with all stakeholders

What we offer:

A competitive salary of £24,000pa rising to £25,000pa on completion of satisfactory probation period together with a benefits package including:

  • 5.6 weeks annual holiday which increases to 6.6 weeks with service
  • Non-contractual bonus scheme providing up to 10% of salary a year
