We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the team at Forensic CAMHS Team working with Children and Adolescents with mental health difficulties. This role is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to work in a community forensic team. Due to the complexity of the role we would be looking for someone who has worked in a mental health setting and preferably a forensic mental health setting before.

Under regular supervision from a Clinical Psychologist, you will develop skills to support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; supporting consultation to other professionals and agencies, providing psychological assessment and brief psychological interventions.

In addition, you will support the service in collection of routine data and create reports for commissioners and assist in the development of service evaluation within the service. Previous experience of the above is desirable.

You will work with colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team and so should be able to demonstrate the ability to do so. The role will also involve participation in audit, service evaluation and service development projects.

The FCAMHS Team is a small and supportive team of 8 highly experienced Clinicians including Clinical Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses and Admin. Although the role is a supportive one and at times can involve data collection and audit. The role itself does allow Assistant Psychologist to be trained in several areas of assessment and risk that other roles would be unable to offer. The successful candidate would be offered Clinical Supervision as well as Group Reflective Practice. As a Team we prioritise meeting altogether at least once monthly to support wellbeing and cohesion. We look forward to supporting interested candidates to gain valuable experience in Forensic CAMHS Services covering the South West.

Applicants should have a Psychology degree (2.1 or higher) or a higher degree and experience working with young people or in a mental health setting. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and experience in working with young people with mental health problems. In addition, they will demonstrate good communication skills, be very organised, flexible and IT literate (proficient with MS Office, including basic MS Excel abilities).

The successful candidate will work 30 hours per week.

  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
