Position Overview & Specifications

This is an exciting opportunity to make your first steps in the dynamic Data Center industry as an Associate Project Manager Apprentice in our Hemel Hempstead and/or Dagenham facility.


During your apprenticeship you will work with our data center In-Life or Construction project delivery team, alongside experienced Construction & Critical Infrastructure Project and Programme Delivery Managers to gain hands on experience and knowledge of data center and project management best practice.


While becoming a Project Management expert through on-the-job learning as well as day release, you will have the possibility to work with the various departments in our organization to acquire an all-round view of our business.

Your responsibilities

  • Assist the Construction and/or Infrastructure Lifecycle team in the performance of various activities related to project delivery. These can be either project planning, cost estimation, organisation, administrative tasks, project management and communication
  • You will work to ensure projects are delivered on time, correctly and to budget. This also includes preparing work areas to undertake work related activities
  • You will learn the NTT standard approach to project structure, documentation, delivery, and asset management across EMEA
  • You will read, understand and interpret key project information and ensure you are able to clearly communicate project status and business risks to all key stakeholders
  • You will assist with all the regional teams to ensure that the “Zero Outage” mentality, processes and procedures are maintained in the field of project delivery
  • You will also learn the technical and administrative aspects of building and running a data centre from A to Z, such as: starting a work order to test cooling equipment, when/how to contact vendors, to performing maintenance on cooling equipment, and complete site logs and gather data for permits, such as MOPs and scripts

Your profile

  • Interest in the data center environment, and specifically either construction, project management or mechanical and/or electrical engineering
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team, as well as working independently
  • Enthusiastic, eager to learn, pro-active, determined and flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment and demand from the client or supervisor
  • Ability to manage your time independently and prioritize day-to-day tasks based on importance
  • The ability to analyze problems and come to a workable solution using logic and reasoning
  • Able to work within the small details of a project but take a larger analytical scope approach to the overall project state and progression
  • Computer literacy, comfortable with MS Office 365
  • Flexibility to travel to other locations as required at short notice
  • GCSE or equivalent English and Math (Grade 4 or above) is desired

About the Apprenticeship Program

  • Course: Associate Project Manager (Ref: ST0310)
  • You will be enrolled at Heart of England Training
  • All training and learning will be delivered on site, with a potential for day-release
  • Apprenticeship level: 4
  • Expected duration: 24 months
  • Start date: 15 August 2023

  • On successful completion of the apprenticeship a full-time position may be available, as well as continued learning through further apprenticeships and/or alternative courses
