We are seeking a CAD Engineer to Join our Team at Pipex Ltd, part of the NOV Family at our site in Plymouth, GB. Junior profiles are welcome to apply: if you have a college qualification starting from an NC Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, you are welcome to apply! We specialize in large scale composite and thermoplastic products and projects and are pushing the boundaries in CAD Design and Process.

NOV (National Oilwell Varco) FGS (Fiber Glass Systems) Plymouth CAD Engineer operates within the CAD Team managed by the Digital Design Manager. The CAD team is a sub-department of ADAM (Advanced Design and Manufacturing) Engineering Services. The CAD Engineer is a dedicated role within the CAD team to support the creation of drawing and 3D models to support delivery of projects. These include but are not limited to providing technical knowledge and support (to all areas of the business), training, producing drawings, checking drawings and supporting sales. These will need to be provided in accordance with customer & NOV FGS Plymouth requirements specified by the respective client, sales manager and/or project manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce high quality, professional models and drawings within the specified timeframe, for ease of fabrication and to promote NOV FGS products.
  • Embrace design for manufacture and endeavor to develop efficient solutions to business challenges.
  • Ensure drawings match materials allocated within respective estimating spreadsheets and meet PO (Project Orders) requirements when possible.
  • Support Sales with CAD Sketches and on occasion potential client meetings
  • Create and assist in SOI’s (Standard Operating Instructions) and System Improvements
  • Develop knowledge and experience in PX products and fabrication procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure customer design requirements are effectively illustrated to NOV FGS Plymouth factories.
  • Communicate with suppliers and clients when applicable.
  • Mentoring and training of NOV FGS Plymouth personnel
  • Provide and maintain a BOM from CAD Drawings & Models (when required/possible).
  • Log Hours
  • Adhere to SOI’s and BMS (Business Management Systems).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Maths & Science (Essential)
  • Degree level Education (Desirable)
  • Any college qualification (Essential)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Intermediate CAD Software Experience (Essential)
  • Advanced CAD Software Experience (Desirable)
  • Understanding of Construction Industry (Desirable)
