Position Overview & Specifications

We are a large, progressive Medical Centre passionate about providing great quality care to our 29,000+ patients and we have an exciting opportunity for Healthcare Assistants to join our team.

Shifts are available throughout the week Monday to Friday. Evenings until 20:00 and Saturdays 08:30 - 17:00 are also available.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant who is committed to supporting us in providing the best patient care by assisting the clinical team in the delivery of prescribed patient care programmes. This is a varied role working within our supportive and friendly nursing team.

The successful candidate will ideally be an experienced phlebotomist and have a good range of some of the other HCA skills. However, training to further enhance skills would be provided. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong I.T. skills, comfortable in working in a busy environment, flexibility and good attention to detail are also essential.

This position would suit someone who likes working as part of team, is kind and empathetic, enjoys face-to-face interaction with patients and has a methodical approach to their work.

Job description

Duties will include:-

  • Phlebotomy
  • Warfarin monitoring using INRstar software
  • Patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Recording patient observations including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate and pulse oximetry
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations and coil/ implant fitting clinics
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 16-20 per week

Salary: From £11.19 per hour
