Position Overview & Specifications
The service redesign in the post Covid era has opened up opportunities to revolutionize how unscheduled care is delivered.
Our team is looking to attract candidates that would be committed and able to deliver the expanding units of ambulatory care (AEC) and rapid assessment (MAU).
The elements that currently compose acute medicine are the AMU (ward J North) which is a 30 bedded acute unit with telemetry, High dependency (J Centre) a 9 bedded mixed level 2 and 3 critical care unit, and a 5 bay and expanding ambulatory care unit.
The AMU is currently supported by the on-call consultant of the day, a day referral service for specialty input, and an established Acute Medical Consultant. There is an experienced ANP and support team, based in MAU as well as ongoing recruitment drive for Critical care ANPs.
Medical receiving is also currently supported by our colleagues in the Emergency Department with a cohesive and collaborative approach to achieve the best for our patients. There are established pathways for anaemia, OPAT and heart failure management within the ambulatory unit, with significant scope to increase with the current investment being put into Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
The medical day bed unit also has a supporting role in admission avoidance and support for the management of chronic disease in Inverclyde. Experience in acute medicine is required and MRCP desirable.
Opportunities for internal and external training will be offered and facilitated to further career prospects.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the service development and quality improvement.
The basic hours of work will be Monday to Friday 9-5pm, with flexibility is required to support service provision where required on an ad hoc basis. This is expected to be no more than two shifts per month
