Position Overview & Specifications

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and have independent specialist clinical expertise in sexual and reproductive health. You will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the implementation and evaluation of these needs.

The post holder will direct, co-ordinate and supervise, where appropriate, the work of others within the area to promote best practice in line with professional accountability and will be the named person to liaise with other specialist services. Providing specialist nursing in the area of contraception, pregnancy and sexual health. This includes the assessment for and the provision of contraception, sexual health information and screening, pregnancy testing and discussion of further management.

Essential Criteria

Registered General Nurse or Registered Midwife with Family Planning/GUM Qualification.

Post registration experience.

Experience in FP/GUM specialist setting.

Evidence of further education/continuous professional development.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team leadership skills with the ability to work using own initiative.

Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work on own initiative.

Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Mentorship and teaching.

Basic IT skills.

Demonstrate effective time management skills.
