NHS Resolution is a not-for-profit organisation within the NHS that manages negligence claims against the NHS (and some private sector health providers) in England. NHS Resolution also has an active role in learning from incidents, sharing learning to reduce harm and improving patient and staff safety.
The Early Notification scheme is an innovative scheme for NHS Resolutions strategic approach. The Early Notification team are responsible for handling maternity cases notified to NHS Resolution from Members at an early stage with the aim of:
Taking proactive steps to investigate any potential civil liability to reduce costs
Ensuring that local/national learning takes place and safer practice is incentivised and
Providing support to members, clinicians and families throughout their own investigation process;
