We show our customers how to wear our product in an aspirational way, referencing the latest fashion trends and listening to our customer’s needs, and lifestyle. We are our customers’ virtual changing room.

The Role:

We are looking for an inventive Hair and Make-up Artist to help implement and interpret the New Look creative vision through the Hair and Make-up styling of Online Shoots. Being a fashion-forward thinker, you must understand and maintain best practices, not only to achieve very high standards of styling and imagery but also to maintain agreed efficiencies within the Studio.

Responsibilities:

Provide the highest standard of hairdressing and make up skills to the daily e-commerce shoots.You will look after the hair or make up for 2 models or hair and make up for 1 model.
Review the rail for that day’s shoot, look through the model’s book, consider previous NL imagery on this model and then talk through your hair / make up direction with the Art Director, Stylist and photographer.
Ensure that your hair / make up creative is aspirational and considers the NL customer at all times
Understand the different NL creative personas (Miss NL / Girl Next Door / Classic / New Gen) and work with the Art Director and Styling Manager on creative hair / make up looks that support these personas.
Maintain and encourage a positive ‘can do’ atmosphere in the studios which is conducive to high production levels and excellent quality of work.
Flexible and strong ‘all-rounder’ qualities.
Attention to detail is crucial in order to maintain visual quality and consistency across all images taken for the website.
Working simultaneously across 1-2 models per day
To ensure excellent knowledge of the New Look brand guidelines to best execute the brand vision
Collaborate on a daily basis with Art Director, Photographer and Stylist to produce imagery
Work on daily direction in line with the seasonal New Look hair guidelines
Strong awareness and knowledge of trends and how these can be interpreted through the New Look Creative vision
Draw inspiration from a variety of fashion media to influence styling ideas, helping the website remain fresh and forward thinking.
Maintain efficiencies within the studios.
Brief freelance members of the hair and makeup team on daily direction.
Work continuously with peers to implement changes in order to improve studio efficiencies or shoot imagery.
Work reactively on set, problem solving and showing initiative in a fast-paced studio environment
The Ideal Candidate This role requires a person with excellent hair styling technique (and make up skills) and a very strong creative visual focus, as well as possessing strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Working on ad hoc projects for New Look

About You:

2/3 years hair and make-up experience
Salon, e-commerce, and editorial session experience is a must
Strong fashion and trend knowledge
Good time management within a busy and pressured environment
E-commerce and editorial session experience is a must
Experienced and competent working with all skin tones
BTEC National Diploma Makeup and Hair Level 3 would be desired, but not essential
Good communication skills and able to give and take direction
Strong fashion and trend knowledge
Excellent attention to detail
Strong organisation skills, with a pro-active ‘can do’ attitude
Good time management
Calm at all times
