It’s an exciting time to be joining Network Rail High Speed. We are making the biggest fundamental change to our business in its history, as we look to modernise and deliver an even more sustainable and high performing high speed railway than we already have today!

Who we are

Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK’s only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).

The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Stratford International.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client ‘HS1 Ltd’, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

Brief Description


The role

We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Manager to develop and deliver consistent and effective engagement strategies for Network Rail High Speed (NRHS). You’ll be working with a lively and creative communications team to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders (including our client, media, public affairs, community relations). You’ll bring our business and our stakeholders on our change journey through impactful communications and play an integral role in developing and building our the NRHS brand.

The person

So, who are we looking for? If you can answer ‘yes’ to the following questions, then we look forward to receiving your application. Do you:

  • Hold a professional communications qualification (or have demonstrable equivalent experience)?
  • Have substantial experience in corporate communications?
  • Have strong influencing skills?
  • Have evidence of good planning and financial skills (with the ability to deliver projects and activities on time and within budget)?
  • Have a curious and creative streak, demonstrable through your professional communications experience?

Although it’s not essential, but if you do have experience of directing and managing agency support, this would be an added bonus – and if you could also provide evidence of continuing professional development, even better!


The important stuff

The role will be based at St Pancras however frequent travel to our other office and site locations along the High Speed line is expected.

We follow a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range:

£44,690 to £50,276 plus inner London allowance of £3,320.

If you are successful in your application, you may be required to go through a security vetting process (depending on the role).
