Position Overview & Specifications
1. To provide advice and support to children with additional needs and their families/carers, especially during the assessment process and following diagnosis.
2. To undertake home visits/school/nursery visits to assist in assessment and diagnosis using appropriate observation and assessment tools.
3. To identify those children who have inclusion difficulties because of their health, development, behaviour or social disadvantages and to work with education, parents/carers and other agencies as appropriate to minimise the impact of their difficulties.
4. To have knowledge/ experience of SEND and issues facing children young people with additional needs 0-19 and ability to engage with children/young people

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,136 and a maximum payment of £1,915 per annum pro rata)
You will provide support to families with complex medical and neurodevelopmental conditions. You are a link between the family, their educational setting and those managing their health needs. This includes supporting educational Early Support, contributing to diagnosis of social communication and other needs and signposting families for support from voluntary and other agencies.
You will be managing your own caseload and supervising the work of the nursery nurses and the admin team.
You will have regular team meeting with colleagues in Thurrock, Basildon and Brentwood
