NAYC are an established youth charity providing a countywide youth service in the voluntary sector. Our work in local communities includes starting up new youth provision, training youth leaders and volunteers, and delivering activities, events for young people. We support a variety of youth clubs, activity groups and organisations to develop the potential of all young people and with a growing membership and need, we are expanding our work around health and wellbeing.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for the right people to join our team as Youth Development workers and support our new youth club projects. We have received funding from West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) and Northampton Town council (NTC) to support new wellbeing youth cafes planned to open in the Northampton area.
We see the role developing as these and other projects are established. The work initially includes:
- Working with our designated youth clubs to run weekday afternoon/evening activity sessions of 1-2 hours.
- Leading local volunteers supporting the session.
- Planning, setting up and delivering a variety of fun and engaging activities to young people age range 8-17. These activities will include health and wellbeing.
- Recording details of youth club sessions for our Reports and social media.
You will be supported by the NAYC Youth Development team based at King’s Park and also the Youth Club Leadership.
We provide free training, including Youth Mental Health and delivering Wellbeing activities in youth settings.
You will have access to our Games and Activities resource with over 150 different activities to take out to sessions.
We also reimburse mileage expenses for travel to youth club venues.
YD Workers who are successful in their work will have the opportunity to increase working hours at NAYC’s affiliated youth clubs, and (subject to further funding) may be considered for a permanent post.
