Join us as a Climate & ESG Capital Markets Associate

  • In this role, you’ll help senior team members provide coverage for capital markets, bilateral financing, solutions, and risk management products across all relevant segments
  • Day-to-day, you’ll support the delivery of transactions to targeted client bases in partnership with colleagues across Structuring, Content & Advisory, Syndicate, Credit and Legal
  • This is your opportunity to develop, maintain and institutionalise the relationships with the clients you cover, including insurers, banks, and asset managers

What you’ll do

We’re looking for someone to join us in our market-facing Centre of Excellence on topics across environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. You’ll also develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, while collaborating as part of a team.

You’ll support our frontline teams, including Coverage, Product and Syndicate, with ESG structuring capabilities and market intelligence, such as product innovations and sustainable lending volumes. You’ll also lead on various internal climate initiatives across the bank.

You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Developing an understanding of sustainability trends and how it applies to various non-banking financial institutions, including asset managers, wealth managers and brokers
  • Organising our sustainable financing events for key client groups in the private space, including thematic webinars
  • Working collaboratively with industry partners and participating in various industry working groups, such as International Capital Market Association, Association for Financial Markets in Europe, Global Financial Markets Association and Loan Markets Association, along with sustainable financing industry events
  • Supporting with the structuring of sustainable financing solutions for clients in alignment with various industry standards and guidance
  • Regular ESG benchmarking across non-banking financial institutions, including reporting and disclosures, sustainable lending volumes, and ESG rating analysis from multiple agencies
  • Contributing to our thought leadership and monthly sustainability newsletter, focused on the private finance markets

The skills you’ll need

To be successful in this role, you’ll have experience of working in either financial services, management consulting, transaction services, audit, a ratings agency or in a specialist sustainability role. You’ll also have an interest in sustainability with knowledge of transition strategies.

You’ll also need:

  • An understanding of and an interest in real asset investment strategies, including real estate, infrastructure, private equity, and private debt
  • Knowledge of various capital market products, including funds, finance, collateralised loan obligation, securitisation, and interest rate swaps
  • Knowledge of green bond principles, sustainability linked loan principles, EU taxonomy, task force on climate related financial disclosures, Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, ESG ratings and carbon markets
