Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the senior leadership team for the South West and lead our property teams across Cornwall. The role of Assistant Director Operations helps to shape our regional plan, lead delivery of our regional priorities and strategy, and manage our property portfolios.

The Assistant Director role acts as an important connector between national, regional and property colleagues, ideas and initiatives. Relationships are key to making things work. We work to restore landscapes and nature, create fabulous visitor experiences at our pay for enter properties and in the wider outdoors, reach out to more diverse audiences and help to tackle our climate crisis. Being able prioritise what’s most important to deliver the strategy and to cut through what can sometimes seem complex to deliver the things that really make a difference is important. What you'll be doing:This opportunity is a strategic and operational leadership role within a matrix and multidisciplinary organisation. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for providing inspirational experiences for our visitors, while delivering world class conservation across our natural and built heritage. You’ll be working in partnerships and with diverse stakeholders.

Working in collaboration with your colleagues on the regional leadership team, you’ll contribute to the development of the regional plan and its delivery, sponsoring and leading on specific strategic areas on behalf of the region. Reporting to our Regional Director as one seven Assistant Directors in the South West, you'll lead a team of General Managers who manage our Cornish properties.

You'll sponsor large-scale projects and manage external partnerships. Influential and inspirational, you’ll support and enable our places and people to succeed; making connections, removing barriers and providing support, direction and insight. You'll be highly credible and able to display a strategic perspective that ensures you and your teams identify opportunities, priortise and deliver the right things in the right ways.

Brilliant people and operational leadership and management skills at a senior level with an inclusive and collaborative leadership approach An active interest in local communities and audiences with the ability to engage with them to understand their perspectives and needs. Understanding of what brilliant visitor experiences and service means, and holding teams to account for delivering it.

Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, able to develop impactful working partnerships internally and externally. A creative approach to problem solving, ability to explore and develop new initiatives to achieve results. Commercially and financially astute, you’ll be able to balance commercial growth with conservation need. Experience managing and sponsoring large projects and project management principles. The ability to assess and manage risk, and to decide when and how to act to manage risk

Due to the breadth of the portfolio, and our region, regular travel is required for this role.

Salary is in the range of £64,500 - £68,500
