Position Overview & Specifications
Having responsibility for the efficient management of our team of drivers and fleet and for ensuring the fleet is properly maintained and serviced at all times. As Transport Manager you will also need to understand current national legislation associated with the role.
Main Responsibilities of the Transport Manager
- To ensure an efficient vehicle defect reporting system is in place and managed
- To plan vehicle and plant maintenance and Ensure all vehicles and plant are operated in a roadworthy condition
- Ensure and oversee correct vehicle maintenance procedures
- Ensure vehicles are booked in and presented for MOT’s on the correct dates
- Monitor external maintenance contractors
- Monitor OCRS scores and encounter reports
- Maintain and audit maintenance records ensuring they are kept for 15 months
- Ensure, advise and instruct the operator to maintain compliance around operating legislation
- Ensure and oversee the implementation of an effective vehicle and plant defect reporting system
- Ensure vehicles are presented for PMI’s on the correct dates
- Liable for any shortcomings in maintenance and PG9’s or PG13’s issued
- Ensure drivers are aware and compliant with domestic driving rules
- Ensure VU’s are downloaded at the required intervals
- Ensure driver’s cards & VU’s are downloaded at the required intervals
- Ensure, arrange and oversee “Driver CPC Training” program
- Ensure driver CRB checks are in place
- Carry out operator licence variation applications
- Investigate accidents and liaise with the fleet insurance policy providers
Experience and Skills required
- You will need to hold a National Transport Manager CPC Qualification.
- You will be an excellent communicator with both verbal and written skills
- Good working knowledge of computers, Excel, and Microsoft Office software
- Flexible in your approach
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure as this is a demanding role
