Gym Manager

POMPEY HEALTH & FITNESS CLUB is located at Portsmouth FC training ground and is operated by Mosaic Spa and Health Clubs on behalf of Portsmouth Football Club. Mosaic is one of the leading spa and leisure management companies specialising in the management of Health Clubs and Day Spas. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly and fun environment for our members and guests.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Gym Manager to lead the gym team and drive all aspects of the fitness programme following an extensive refurbishment of the facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a true passion for the industry, enjoy working with people and possess excellent standards of customer care at all times, whilst demonstrating a good understanding of all aspects of what makes a successful health club.

This role involves overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the health club gym and class programme; as well as overall health club Duty Manager responsibilities, therefore, applicants should have a sound understanding of the key areas of responsibility including:

• To manage all aspects of member service, promoting high service standards within the club at all times and within company guidelines.
• To oversee the provision of inductions, reviews and gym programmes of members.
• To produce a gym rota that reflects the needs of the business and reflects the attendance to the club.
• To produce and check daily and monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules for the gym and studios.
• Performance Management including KPI’s
• Retention programmes and member challenges

In order to meet our high operating standards and levels of customer service, applicants should be able to create a friendly environment for leisure club users and staff, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate an ability to build relationships easily at all levels. The successful candidate must be highly organised, able to remain calm under pressure and think logically in a busy, fast-paced environment.

It would be advantageous (although not essential) to hold an RLSS Pool Lifeguard Qualification and First Aid at Work Certificate. The position is full time, working 5 shifts as part of a 7-day rota, and applicants must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
